How to make Ground Beef Tostadas:

Step 1:In a large skillet, brown ground beef. Drain any excess grease.

I drain my excess grease by rinsing my pan of ground beef under lukewarm water and using a spatula, I hold back the meat, and tilt the pan to get the water out.

I do this action about 3-4 times.

Step 2: Add pinto beans, salsa, chili powder, and cumin to ground beef and stir until heated through.

Step 3: Top each tostada with ground beef mixture, lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream, cheese, and cilantro and serve.

Ground Beef Tostada toppings?

I am a sauce and toppings person. I don’t like eating bland food. I love when I can top my food with something or add more flavor to it.

Some of my favorite toppings I use on tostadass are:
-sliced tomatoes
-sliced peppers
-sliced jalapeños
-banana peppers
-salsa
-nacho cheese
-guacamole
-corn
-spanish rice

How could I make this more healthy?

You could always add a few more vegetables or top it with some spinach but one of my favorite things is using ground turkey in place of ground beef.

They have similar tastes, but turkey is a much healthier alternative to beef.

You would cook the ground turkey the same way you would cook the ground beef.

You simply just brown it in a pan until all the pink is gone.

Ground turkey has a lighter color, so it can sometimes be difficult to see how “done” it is.

Ground turkey should reach an internal temperature of 165 degrees F.

Don’t like tostadas?

That’s okay, you don’t have to use the filling on top of a tostada. Instead, you could use it as filling to a stuffed bell pepper, inside a quesadilla, in tacos or burritos.

The best part is, the longest part of the recipe is browning ground beef – and that I can totally handle.

Also, just to let you in on a little secret, it goes EVEN QUICKER if you have this handy-dandy little tool.

I have 1 great and easy suggestion to make your Tostadas more authentic, I am from El Paso and have always impressed people with my "Homemade" tostadas and also Taco shells. So simple but way better than store bought tasteless Tortilla shells. Just buy corn Tortillas, heat some Canola oil in a skillet, take tongs and dip your tortillas in the hot oil, turn it over and fry the other side until they are crispy, do not walk away as they fry super quick! Lay fried tortillas on paper towels, salt if you like. It's that simple. For taco shell I just fold with tongs and a fork as they fry.
