San Francisco 49ers 2024 7-Round NFL Mock Draft:How Can 49ers Get Back to Super Bowl? (2)

After another exciting but painful loss in the Super Bowl to the Kansas City Chiefs, the San Francisco 49ers turn their eyes to the 2024 NFL Draft to help get back to the big game next season.

The 49ers have little cap space to work with, so the draft will be key for them to add difference-makers. This seven-round mock draft will help the 49ers build toward another Super Bowl appearance.

49ers 7-ROUND MOCK DRAFT

Round 1, 31st Overall

Well, that's one way to handle a stunt. Good lord Amarius Mims.pic.twitter.com/oo6KsS4Bkz

— Nick Martin (@themicknartin) February 5, 2024
San Francisco 49ers 2024 7-Round NFL Mock Draft:How Can 49ers Get Back to Super Bowl? (3) Amarius Mims, OT, Georgia

As seen in the Super Bowl, there’s plenty of room for improvement across San Francisco’s offensive line. LT Trent Williams is still one of, if not the league’s best left tackles. However, he turns 36 this July, so looking for his successor would be wise.

While Williams likely will play at a high level for a season or two, upgrades should be considered at right tackle for Colton McKivitz and left guard for Aaron Banks.

Georgia OT Amarius Mims was built in an offensive tackle lab. He has a massive frame, long arms and an athletic build to find success wherever he lines up.

Mims has played just more than 800 snaps in his college career due to injury and playing behind some really good players at Georgia, so his lack of experience and tape could be an issue for some teams.

But for the 49ers picking at the end of the first round, this is a perfect high-reward, relatively low-risk selection.

Round 2, 51st Overall

TRADE — SF 2:63 & 3:98 for LAR 2:51

Adisa Isaac posted three sacks this weekend, all from different alignments and with different rush moves.

San Francisco 49ers 2024 7-Round NFL Mock Draft:How Can 49ers Get Back to Super Bowl? (4) Adisa Isaac, EDGE, Penn State

Chase Young, Randy Gregory and Clelin Ferrell are expected to hit free agency, so replenishing the edge position will be one of the 49ers’ biggest priorities this offseason.

With 11 picks, you can expect the 49ers to be aggressive targeting areas of need with players they love.

Penn State EDGE Adisa Isaac is an excellent fit to pair with Nick Bosa and add to the pass rush. Isaac is one of the more complete defensive ends in this draft class. Listed at 6-foot-4, 254 pounds Isaac has the size, length and athleticism to develop into a legit three-down defender.

Expect Isaac to raise his draft stock this offseason because he likely will test well at the NFL Combine. He also has high-ceiling pass-rush tools to pair with his ability to defend the run well.

Round 3, 94th Overall

Michael Hall Jr. (#51) of Ohio State had himself a game vs. Notre Dame last year. Here are two back-to-back plays where he shows off his run-stuffing ability. pic.twitter.com/k55VdeL5Mp

San Francisco 49ers 2024 7-Round NFL Mock Draft:How Can 49ers Get Back to Super Bowl? (5) Michael Hall Jr., DL, Ohio State

Expected to lose multiple quality depth pieces along the defensive line, the 49ers should invest heavily in the defensive trenches.

Michael Hall had an excellent week in Mobile at the Senior Bowl and should carry his success into the combine. Hall’s explosiveness and ability to stay on the field on all three downs is a big reason why he’s moved into the early Day 2 discussion.

Hall can provide quality depth behind Javon Hargrave and Arik Armstead but can play a ton in Year 1 due to his ability to line up in multiple spots.

Round 4, 124th Overall

Not only is Max Melton an agile freak that runs receivers' routes for them, he is a hell of a competitor pic.twitter.com/XDyQ8YAF8Y https://t.co/ZOcikPGcTd

— Mander Manny (@CommanderSZN) February 10, 2024
San Francisco 49ers 2024 7-Round NFL Mock Draft:How Can 49ers Get Back to Super Bowl? (6) Max Melton, CB, Rutgers

Cornerback depth is another position of need for the 49ers.

Possessing two quality starters in Deommodore Lenoir and Charvarius Ward, the 49ers’ lack of depth behind them is a concern for general manager John Lynch. Rutgers CB Max Melton is one of my favorite players in this draft class.

Despite measuring 6-foot, 190 pounds, Melton is one of the draft's most physical, tough and fluid cornerbacks. He showed great man coverage tape in 2023.

Melton’s competitiveness and mentality are a perfect fit in San Francisco, which prides itself on flying around and playing physically on defense.

Round 4, 131st Overall

Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint (@rosemy_marcus) has been an unsung hero for Georgia this season.

Seemed like anytime Georgia was in a “gotta have it” moment, he stepped up to make a play. He was sneaky productive for Georgia and answered the call during a time when they needed him to. pic.twitter.com/SAUR1Jtk43

San Francisco 49ers 2024 7-Round NFL Mock Draft:How Can 49ers Get Back to Super Bowl? (7) Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint, WR, Georgia

A position to monitor for the 49ers heading into the offseason is wide receiver. Chris Conley and Ray-Ray McCloud are expected to hit free agency, while Jauan Jennings is a restricted free agent.

Although he’s under contract for 2024, Brandon Aiyuk is one year away from looking to break the bank as one of the game’s best young receivers.

So expect the 49ers to draft a wide receiver relatively early in this year's loaded receiver class. Georgia’s Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint is a perfect receiver to add to the fold on Day 3.

Rosemy-Jacksaint fits Jennings’ role well. He would be a big-bodied red-zone and yard-after-catch weapon for Kyle Shannahan and Brock Purdy.

Round 5, 175th Overall

So I started watching The Sopranos recently for the first time and it caused me to watch the most Italian name I could find on my watchlist

Here’s Tanor Bortolini (C 63)

San Francisco 49ers 2024 7-Round NFL Mock Draft:How Can 49ers Get Back to Super Bowl? (8) Tanor Bortolini, OL, Wisconsin

Doubling dipping at the offensive line is never a bad thing, especially when you have some short-term and long-term concerns at multiple spots.

Mims would take care of the tackle concerns, and Wisconsin OC Tanor Bortolini could help ease some of the interior concerns. Bortolini has played snaps at center, left guard, right guard and right tackle during his four years in college.

Bortolini’s versatility and toughness provide excellent value on Day 3 for a team needing depth at multiple offensive line spots. Don’t be shocked when Bortolini develops into a starter at some point in his career, either.

Wisconsin does a tremendous job developing its offensive linemen and Bortolini is the next man up to make the NFL jump.

Round 6, 208th Overall

Nice fake sim pressure here by #Texas LB Jaylan Ford (#41), gets to his depth and clothes the space between he and Penix’s RB safety valve to help the Longhorns defense get off the field.

Ford has made a couple plays like this tonight. pic.twitter.com/GWybPcwO81

— Devin Jackson (@RealD_Jackson) January 2, 2024
San Francisco 49ers 2024 7-Round NFL Mock Draft:How Can 49ers Get Back to Super Bowl? (9) Jaylan Ford, LB, Texas

One position that may need more attention than expected after the Super Bowl is linebacker.

After Dre Greenlaw tore his Achilles running onto the field in the first half, the depth concerns at linebacker as well as starting-level play have risen quite a bit.

Fred Warner eases a lot of the issues, but adding someone to the mix with Oren Burks and Dee Winters should be a priority.

Jaylan Ford would be an excellent fit for the 49ers’ defense due to his ability to cover, run and tackle on all three levels of the field. The 49ers are one of the few teams that trust their linebackers in coverage consistently, and one of Ford’s biggest strengths is his ability to cover in man and zone looks.

Round 6, 213th Overall

Zion Tupuola-Fetui (#58) is a player most of us expect to make another big jump in 2022 after struggling with injuries last year.

From his 20" film, ZTP has plenty of burst to challenge the feet of the OL and the forklift technique to finish through the arc is awesome! #BowDown pic.twitter.com/o2vJKmPXVz

San Francisco 49ers 2024 7-Round NFL Mock Draft:How Can 49ers Get Back to Super Bowl? (10) Zion Tupuola-Fetui, EDGE, Washington

Potentially losing three contributors at defensive end will not be easy to replace. So expect the 49ers to double-dip at edge this year, especially given they have so many picks.

Washington EDGE Zion Tupuola-Fetui was once viewed as a potential top-50 pick, but due to multiple injuries that derailed his career, Day 3 is likely when he’ll hear his name called.

Though the medicals will be of importance, Tupuola-Fetui has an exciting pass rush upside. He can win with leverage, power, speed and technique as a rusher.

Round 6, 214th Overall

Twelve months ago at this time, we would’ve bet Mississippi State would be sending two DTs to last year’s @seniorbowl.

However, that changed when Jaden Crumedy suffered wrist injury in fall camp and missed first 9 games of season.

San Francisco 49ers 2024 7-Round NFL Mock Draft:How Can 49ers Get Back to Super Bowl? (11) Jaden Crumedy, DL, Mississippi State

Javon Kinlaw and Sebastian Joseph-Day hit free agency so adding even more depth to the interior defensive line would be a smart move.

Jaden Crumedy is a 6-foot-5, 305-pound interior defensive lineman who is raw but possesses some high-quality traits at a premier position. Crumedy did not have the season many expected after showing up big in 2022.

However, this late on Day 3 valuing traits becomes a big factor, and Crumedy offers plenty of upside.

Round 7, 248th Overall

— Greg Brandt (@devywarehouse) September 10, 2022
San Francisco 49ers 2024 7-Round NFL Mock Draft:How Can 49ers Get Back to Super Bowl? (12) Jase McClellan, RB, Alabama

Late in the draft, teams should look for players who can stick, play a role and provide special teams value.

Jase McClellan can do just that for the 49ers. Christian McCaffrey and Elijah Mitchell have dealt with their fair share of injuries throughout their career. Adding a quality depth running back is a win-win for the 49ers and McClellan, who will land with one of the league’s best run game coordinators.

McClellan’s ability to impact the game as a rusher and a pass catcher is a perfect fit for Shannahan, who uses his running backs in the passing game a ton.
